As you may have seen in Channel 4’s news item last week, the town of Hawick was one of the worst affected in what is now acknowledged as one of the top five worst winters in the last one hundred years.
On the evening of Tuesday the 5th January, although severe weather warnings had been issued for the area, the town of Hawick was blissfully unaware of the amount of snow that was actually going to fall during that night. As we were waking up and getting ready for another day of manufacturing, 2ft of snow lay outside our homes.
With all major roads into Hawick closed a number of local firms closed their doors for the rest of the week. We are proud to say that all of our staff reported to work on time and raring to go, which allowed us to keep the factory open and continue production for the week to meet our customer delivery dates, despite temperatures of as low as -14C!
Now that the thaw is well underway our crews are busy helping a number of companies, schools and organisations in the area get their heating back on after frozen pipes, boiler breakdowns and burst pipes have been causing problems to local firms.
