The rising costs of an old fossil fuel system which was uneconomical to maintain, the desire to reduce their carbon footprint, and the introduction of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) led the client to consider a more sustainable source of heating for its national distribution centre.
Biomass System Installed
Turnbull & Scott provided a complete bespoke solution, including design, installation and commissioning a containerised boiler house, pipe work and interfaces with the client’s existing heating system.
The complete self-contained biomass boiler house was designed to fit into an existing unused space adjacent to the main warehouse on to which a concrete plinth was constructed.
This containerised solution offered flexibility of design, and the ability to fit biomass where there was a no possibility of building or adapting space for a boiler room and fuel store within the main building. The designed solution also offers the possibility to dismantle and move the system to another site if the continued growth of the company demands that.
The new containerised biomass boiler house system has meant that the client is now completely ‘Off Grid’ with no reliance on fossil fuels heating their premises.
With over 80 years of boiler installation experience, Turnbull and Scott ensured the project was delivered on time and on budget.
