Turnbull & Scott designs and manufactures robust, high performance Air Cooled Steam Condensers & Steam Condensing Coils,  for steam applications with condensing pressures to 40  bar, for a wide range of industries. The exceptional design and build quality makes them ideal for extreme applications and machinery running 24/7.

An Air Cooled Condenser (ACC) is a direct dry cooling system where steam is condensed inside air-cooled finned tubes.  The ACC typically comprises a series of modules, arranged in parallel, each containing a quantity of finned tubes. An Axial flow forced draft fan attached to each module forces the cooling air across the finned tubes.

The company has over 70 years experience in heat transfer applications and provides a bespoke design service to ensure its Air Cooled Condensers and steam condensing coils deliver the required thermal performance within an optimised footprint. We also repair and refurbish units to improve performance.

Air Cooled Condensers  (ACC) are part of the 'Dry Cooling' technology family along with Air Blast Coolers.

Air Cooled Condensers cool steam  while Air Blast Coolers cool liquid.

The steam to be condensed flows inside a network of tubes that have fins attached to facilitate heat transfer.

Ambient air is blown or drawn across the fins by an Axial flow fan, to cool and condense the steam to a liquid state inside the tubes.

The company can offer on-site visits and factory testing to determine whether repairs are possible and to undertake repairs and refurbishment of existing coils and headers where feasible or supply retrofit of replacement coils and headers where required.
