Taking on 60 Miles in 24 hours for a great cause

Turnbull and Scott’s very own Jim Davidson (Quality and Engineering Manager) took on the incredible challenge of walking 60 miles in 24 hours. The mammoth event took place in the Scottish Borders across the different local ride out routes of Hawick Common Riding.

Jim, who has been with us for 37 years, and committee members of the Mosstroopers Club decided to take on this walk to raise funds for two fantastic local charities – The Margaret Kerr Unit, who provide respite care at the Borders General Hospital (BGH) and Oliver’s Trust, who are raising money to build a place for parents to stay whilst their children are receiving treatment. Both of these amazing charities provide so much support and care to many families in the Scottish Borders.

Despite some extremely tough conditions, Jim and the other five participants managed to complete the walk in 23hrs and 5 minutes.

During the challenge there were numerous soakings, long grass, and tough upward climbs which equated to over 10,000 feet of ascent! It was such a great achievement for Jim to complete this huge mental and physical challenge and raise funds for such a great cause.
