Arif brings a wealth of industry experience, having managed companies and businesses around the world. Arif recently retired as a global business unit director in the Optics division of Jabil Inc., one of the world’s leading electronic manufacturing services companies.
Prior to that Arif was Vice President and general manager of Thermacore Inc., a specialist heat transfer development and manufacturing company. During his time at Thermacore, he was appointed managing director of Airedale international, a leading HVAC Company.
Throughout his career Arif has worked in different industries and managed large global OEM’s as his customers and accounts. Arif has a track record of turning businesses into world-class companies and has been on numerous boards, both as a non-exec director and chairman.
Arif has lived and worked in the USA, Europe and Asia and has now made Northumberland in the UK his home. He is passionate about manufacturing and R&D and eager to help companies grow their UK manufacturing and design and development activities.
Arif says the current COVID 19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of developing a strong UK manufacturing base. He laments the erosion of UK manufacturing, citing the failure of successive governments to dissuade UK companies from moving operations to the far east.
However, with the tremendous amount of talent in this country and the world’s top educational institutions, he believes many high-tech industries can be encouraged to bring operations back to the UK. The key to attracting these industries – including heat transfer and HVAC – will be to offer world-class productivity and automation.
Arif is confident that Turnbull & Scott has a prominent role to play, by further growing it’s UK-based R&D and manufacturing capabilities. In doing this, it can build on past success by providing market leading engineering-based solutions at competitive prices.
