A smarter gas heater that delivers real comfort to industrial buildings
The Robur NEXT-R: up to 97.4% thermal efficiency, wall-mounted installation, and comfort temperature in 30 minutes.
Comfort in 30 minutes, even in the largest rooms
Radiant tube systems can take over 4 hours to achieve comfort temperature in a large warehouse. Water-based underfloor systems heat from the slab up, slow to respond and slow to recover. Robur gas unit heaters work in the absence of carrier fluid, with low thermal inertia, so even a 20,000 m³ building reaches comfort temperature inside 30 minutes.
Switch them off at the end of the day. Back to temperature in 30 minutes the next morning. No overnight idling. No wasted fuel.

Up to 97.4% thermal efficiency, and savings up to 25%
Condensing technology recovers heat from the flue gases that a conventional gas heater simply vents to atmosphere. The result: thermal efficiencies above 90%, measured against the net calorific value of the gas. The Robur NEXT-R achieves up to 97.4%, substantially outperforming conventional non-condensing alternatives.
Compared to a standard non-condensing gas unit heater with ~80% efficiency, switching to the Robur NEXT-R typically delivers 20 to 25% reduction in gas consumption, on the same heating load, with no other changes to the building.

Ground effect: heat at floor level, not lost at the ceiling
In a tall building with radiant tubes or a central boiler system, hot air rises. Heat stratification of 1.5°C per metre of height is common, meaning the air at ceiling level (where nobody works) is significantly warmer than at floor level (where everyone is). You’re heating the roof.
The Robur heat exchanger design splits the air flow into layers with different temperatures: warmer at floor level, cooler at the top. Heat stratification is reduced to just 0.3°C per metre. The result is genuine comfort at working height, and no wasted energy warming the upper airspace.
Heat stratification comparison
0.3°C/mRobur ground effect reduces heat stratification to 0.3°C per metre of height, compared to 1.5°C/m for floor-standing appliances.
No destratification fans required. No additional controls complexity.
No central plant room. No pipework. No floor space lost.
A central boiler system requires a dedicated plant room, a distribution network, and floor space that cannot be used for production or storage. Robur gas unit heaters are installed wall-mounted, directly in the space being heated, connected only to the gas supply and power mains, with a single penetration through the wall for the balanced flue.
For a building extension, a new zone, or a refurbishment project, this means dramatically simpler installation: no new pipework runs, no modifications to an existing boiler, no plant room specification. The savings in installation cost alone often justify the switch.
Single flue penetration
One hole in the wall. Gas and power connections. Immediately operational.
Wall-mounted
No floor space lost to the heater itself. Production and storage areas remain fully usable.
No plant room
Eliminates the cost and complexity of a central heating plant entirely.
Modular by design: heat where you need it, when you need it
Each Robur gas unit heater is fully independent. You can zone a building precisely: heat the production area during the shift, heat the loading bay only when the doors are open, shut down the storage area entirely at weekends. With a central boiler system, you heat everything or nothing.
The Genius control system manages up to 100 gas unit heaters across 30 zones from a single interface, locally or remotely. Individual unit monitoring, fault reporting, and scheduling are all included. As your building changes, the system adapts: add units, relocate them, reconfigure zones without any modification to a central plant.

What buyers want to know before specifying
Is gas still the right long-term choice, given the net zero agenda?
For most industrial buildings heated by gas today, the Robur NEXT-R is the most practical and cost-effective path to lower emissions right now, not in theory. With up to 97.4% thermal efficiency and up to 25% lower gas consumption, the carbon reduction is real and measurable from day one. The NEXT-R is certified for hydrogen blends up to 20%, meaning it’s compatible with whatever the gas grid transitions toward. For buildings where electrification is feasible, it may become the right answer in future, but for high-load industrial heating, condensing gas outperforms heat pump alternatives on both cost and practicality for the foreseeable term.
How do I know how many units I need, and which model?
Building volume, insulation spec, target comfort temperature, operating schedule, and zone structure all factor into the sizing calculation. That’s exactly what our free design check covers. You provide the building details, a T&S sales engineer confirms the correct model, quantity, and positioning. The spec pack includes technical drawings and a flue pipe sizing confirmation. No guesswork.
Can the units be connected to our existing BMS?
Yes. The Genius control system includes a Modbus interface for BMS integration. The thermoregulator control option also supports centralised management via Modbus. All control systems and accessories are listed in the Robur controls catalogue. We’ll confirm the right configuration as part of the design check.
What happens if a unit develops a fault?
Robur units include onboard fault diagnostics and light signalling. The Genius software provides remote fault reporting, so you know there’s a problem before the building gets cold. The 5-year full system warranty covers all components. As the UK distributor, Turnbull & Scott provides direct aftersales support, not a third-party service network.
How quickly can we get units delivered to site?
Stock units are available for next-day delivery on orders placed before 2pm. Lead time on non-stock configurations will be confirmed at the time of order. As authorised UK distributor, we hold UK stock. You’re not waiting on European manufacturing lead times.
Is remote commissioning support available?
Yes. Remote commissioning support is included with your purchase. You don’t need a Robur service engineer on-site to get the units operational. Our team supports commissioning remotely, with on-site visits available for larger or more complex multi-zone installations.
5-Year Full System Warranty: Entire Robur Next Series
All Robur Next Series units come with a 5-year warranty covering the complete system, all components, not just the heat exchanger. Backed by T&S aftersales support as the UK authorised distributor.
