Turnbull & Scott partnered with a global leader in sustainable specialty materials, focusing on enhancing their paper reel production process through an improved air humidification system.
The primary objective was to maintain a controlled air temperature of 55°C for optimal humidification conditions. Additionally, the project aimed to utilise the waste condensate, which typically reaches temperatures of up to 85°C, aligning with the client's sustainability goals of efficient energy use and reduced environmental impact.
To Solve
Our team quickly engineered a bespoke condensate cooler capable of handling 550 litres per hour, cooling the temperature from 85°C to the required 55°C using ambient air-thus avoiding additional energy consumption.
We integrated this solution with the existing manufacturing setup, connecting it to the humidification system and installing a modulating control system.
This system intelligently adjusts fan speeds based on the real-time needs of the production process, optimizing energy efficiency and adhering to sustainability objectives.
