Bespoke Panel Heaters for an Offshore Semi-Submersible Accommodation Rig

Teho Engineering Pte Ltd, Singapore were contracted by Keppel Fels to commission the design, manufacture and supply of Panel Heaters for a Semi-Submersible Accommodation rig being built for Floatel International. The rig is designed to meet the latest UK HSE regulatory requirements for operating in the harshest environmental conditions in the world

Client Requirements

Well-equipped with a host of modern facilities, the rig is ideal for construction support during new construction, maintenance activities or for decommissioning projects of offshore oil and gas installations. Consequently twenty-six differently sized areas of the accommodation rig required a custom built Panel Heater producing a specific kW output for each area.

Turnbull & Scott designed and manufactured an LPHW/GLYCOL Free Standing Panel Heater with the following unique features:

Copper/Aluminium Finned heat exchanger element

Polyurethane coated for corrosion protection

'Zintec treated' double skin steel casing

Individual panel dimensions to suit kW output

3 port self-acting thermostatic control valve

Floor mounting brackets & aluminium linear bar outlet grille

Benefits to Clients

The £135k project was delivered to Teho Engineering on time and to budget. A long, maintenance-free life span was achieved through an anti-corrosion design.

A Successful Project Completion

As a consequence to the successful project completion, Teho International and Turnbull & Scott formed an Agency/Distributor agreement for their Far East projects.
